A SPEAKER FOR SILENCE Information and Communication Technologies, is a pilot experience in the application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the framework of the training of women journalists and communicators to contribute, through their networking, to the eradication of all types of violence against women and to serve as a source of information for the general public and the media in particular, on issues related to gender justice, freedom of expression and the promotion of peace. It began in 2008 and has had different actions, among which we highlight:
Under Spanish coordination, this project is aimed at women from different geographical areas: Middle East, Maghreb, Sub-Saharan Africa and Mediterranean Europe, who are working as journalists or communicators in their respective countries. As participants in the training phase and in the phase of creation and expansion of a thematic network, these women are also trained as “Trainers of trainers”, thus ensuring the viability and continuity of the project.The geographical origin of the participants of the first edition was: Algeria, Chad, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Spain, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, R.D. Congo, Sudan and Tunisia.
